For the Hoi An series, Jack Clayton made a selection of multi-layer woodcut prints inspired by many trips around the ancient town. On one walk, he came across a "xich lo" driver who fell asleep whilst reading his paper! These peddle taxis are a symbol of Hoi An and effortlessly weave in and out of the tourist crowds, ringing their bells.

Art is a genuine part that adds value to our life. It allows us to be creative, to connect to our inner selves, to feel and open perceptions.
Jack Clayton is a graphic designer and independent printmaker with more than 10 years experience. Together with his wife, he founded Saigon Print Shop, a specialist woodcut art shop that offers traditional woodcut prints and their digital reproductions.
The artist transforms rough wood into a series of beautiful artworks that portray Vietnamese landscape and people.
Over and above that, Saigon Print Shop is also a woodcut print gallery and a hub for the traditional printmaking community as the brand wants to spread this local culture and technique to more people.
You can shop all their fascinating and carefully-detailed products on CHUS.
