Phap lam is a unique decorative art form of Hue and is a luxurious treasure that is only decorated in places such as palaces and majestic temples. Phap Lam originated in the Minh Mang dynasty, flourished under the Thieu Tri dynasty, and gradually faded away in the Tu Duc dynasty. This art form affirms the creative imprint of the Vietnamese people and culture.
According to the late painter Pham Dang Tri: “Hue Phap Lam contains bright, gorgeous, intense colors that are still familiar to the eye, like typical dithers that often appear in life, often reflected in Hue art at that time."
After more than a century of being lost, Phap lam art is gradually reborn and appears more in contemporary Hue life.
